Vesna Tenodi is nominated as the Australian of the Year by a group of Australian intellectuals, because of her ongoing efforts to protect freedom of expression, to assert the rights of Australian artists to create art without censorship, and the right of Australian archaeologists to investigate the past without political interference. As a part of her DreamRaiser campaign against political correctness, Ms Tenodi has been running a number of art events and awareness raising educational initiatives, including the “Dreamtime Set in Stone” book written in collaboration with Aboriginal elder Goomblar Wylo and “Wanjina Watchers” art exhibitions by renowned Australian painter Gina Sinozich and sculptor Benedikt Osvath. Her innovative approach, courage and determination are an inspiration to others.
