Following Aboriginal hysterical threats, Alcaston Gallery director Beverly Knight cancelled the exhibition of Melbourne-based artist Cameron Hayes a day before its opening in June.
Tiwi Islands Aborigines claimed to be “outraged” and “offended” by images in his show, which were inspired by the 18 months he lived in the Tiwi Islands seven years ago.
Just days after his show at Alcaston was cancelled, Cameron has secured an exhibition at Dark Horse Experiment Gallery in Melbourne’s CBD.
